# Alma > Alma is an AI-native computer interface for the Mac. It uses computer use to > operate the apps you already have, driven by natural language and voice, with > context from your screen, files and recent work, and every action visible and > interruptible. We are one of the few teams building proprietary computer-use technology from scratch outside the frontier labs: the perception, grounding, planning and control stack that lets a model actually drive a desktop is ours, not a wrapper on someone else's agent. Instead of opening an app, hunting a menu and clicking through a task, you describe the outcome. Alma reads the context, works out which applications are involved, and operates them the way a person would: clicking, typing, navigating and waiting. The person stays in control. Alma shows the cursor moving and each step as it happens, and you can stop it, correct it, or take the keyboard back mid-task. ## Computer use "Computer use" means an AI model operating a real computer through its actual interface: seeing the screen, moving the pointer, clicking, typing and reading what came back. Alma does this on macOS against unmodified third-party applications. No integrations, no APIs, no rebuilding the software first. If a human can drive it, Alma can drive it. Alma also supports voice-driven computer use: you speak the request, Alma carries it out in the app. Voice is a first-class input, not a dictation box bolted onto a chat window.
